International Scientific Conference: History – Archaeology – Museology, XXXIIIrd edition
October 26-27, 2023
On October 26-27, 2023, the XXIIIrd edition of International Scientific Conference on History, Archaeology, and Museology, was held at the National Museum of History of Moldova, in a mixed format (with physical and online presence). The conference brought together over 120 specialists from the fields of archaeology, history, museology, linguistics, political science, and ethnology from 10 countries: Moldova, Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Canada, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Germany, Armenia, and Kazakhstan. During the event, 102 reports were presented, with 63 (or 62%) featuring physical presence and 39 (or 38%) online, with the aim of promoting and exploiting scientific results on a large scale, identifying new research directions, and establishing new collaborations with relevant institutions, both nationally and internationally. Within the conference, 2 plenary sessions were presented (from Romania and France), the Tyragetia journal was launched (vol. XVII, no. 2, 2023), and the monographic study, authored by Gheorghe Postică and Eugen Sava, entitled "Prehistoric and Late Ancient Settlements of Mereni" (Tyragetia Library, XXXVIII, Chisinau, 2023), was introduced. The conference was organized in partnership with the State University of Moldova, "Ion Creangă" State Pedagogical University of Chisinau, and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, within the framework of the project: Museum Heritage and Historical Memory: Research, Interpretation, Presentation (Project Code: 20.80009.0807.43). The conference's proceedings featured representatives from various scientific, academic, university, and museum institutions, both from Moldova and abroad (over 48% from abroad). The participants' presentations were distinguished by thematic diversity, new methodological approaches, interdisciplinary studies, new archival materials, archaeological, numismatic, and ethnological research, accompanied by illustrative presentations, graphics, photographs, videos, and more. The materials approved during the conference are scheduled to be published in the Tyragetia journal (vol. XVIII, 2024).
