Opening of the Exhibition “Petru Lucinschi. A Portrait in Time”

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, the National Museum of History of Moldova hosted the opening of the anniversary exhibition "Petru Lucinschi. A Portrait in Time", dedicated to the 85th birthday of the second President of the Republic of Moldova. The event brought together politicians, researchers, museum professionals, friends, and collaborators of President Petru Lucinschi.
During the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Eugen Sava, Dr. Habil., General Director of the National Museum of History of Moldova, Mihai Popov, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, and Aurelian Dănilă, former Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Germany.
Eugen Sava emphasized the significance of the exhibition in preserving collective memory and valuing the political and cultural legacy of President Petru Lucinschi. He highlighted Lucinschi's role in shaping the national identity of the Republic of Moldova.
Mihai Popov addressed the impact of Petru Lucinschi's presidency on Moldova's international relations, underscoring his efforts to establish constructive dialogue with foreign partners and promote a balanced foreign policy aimed at integration into European and international structures.
Aurelian Dănilă contextualized the former president's contributions during the post-Soviet transition period, stressing his involvement in strengthening state institutions and implementing democratic reforms essential to Moldova's modernization.
Attendees recognized Petru Lucinschi's remarkable role in supporting culture and acknowledged the exhibition's importance for the country's cultural and historical heritage. They also appreciated the richness and inestimable value of the displayed materials, noting that they serve not only as documentary evidence of an exceptional figure but also as a valuable history lesson for museum visitors.The exhibition features approximately 180 photographs, documents, distinctions, books, works of art, and personal objects, reconstructing the most significant stages of Petru Lucinschi's life and career. Each exhibit illustrates the journey of a dedicated statesman, a leader respected both nationally and internationally. "Petru Lucinschi. A Portrait in Time" will be open to the public until February 28, 2025, in the upstairs hall of the National Museum of History of Moldova, Chișinău, 31 August 1989 Street, No. 121 A.
